Summer in Nelson is just getting started
This summer discover the detail of the
Nelsons’ WOW® experience and view the new
vibrant exhibition ‘Fiesta of Colour’.
The World of WearableArtTM and Classic
Cars Museum welcomes home a selection
of over 45 garments from the 2014 WOW®
Awards Show, an icon of New Zealand’s
The Gallery features this year’s Supreme
Award winning entry ‘Polynation’ by Kate
MacKenzie of Hawke’ Bay; inspired by the idea
that if suitcases could talk they would carry
stories of travel, culture and integration.
In the adjoining Classic Car Gallery a
rainbow of colour has been injected with
the addition of a Frog green rare Volkswagen
Beetle GT, and a zesty orange Triumph TR6
through a kaleidoscope of motorings most
vibrant paint finishes.
Motoring enthusiast can marvel over
120 immaculate condition classic cars, all of
which are part of a private collection; one of
New Zealand’s largest.
Fiesta of Colour Exhibition runs until May 2015,
with something new to captivate everyone.
A Museum visit is not complete
without a stop at the Cafe, Retail Shop & Art
Gallery. Offering a delicious selection of sweet
& savoury treats and superb Laffare coffee,
the WOW Cafe is one of Nelson’s best kept
secrets. Another kind of temptation can be
found in the Museum’s Shop & Art Gallery, by
way of a creative selection of design objects &

Christmas Day) from 10am to 5pm at Cadillac
Way off Quarantine Road, Annesbrook.
WOW an unforgettable
The Summer Kite Festival returns to Nelson for its 24th year on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 of January at Neale Park.
We are well into the swing of summer
in Nelson, with visitors flocking to the
region, soaking up the sun and its most
loved hotspots. Kaiteriteri, Ruby Bay,
Mapua, Cable Bay, Golden Bay and
Abel Tasman just to name a few, have
been well trodden so far by locals and
holidaymakers alike. If your schedule
allows for some more fun in the sun
now the New Year is upon us, there
is a line up of fantastic, homegrown
events on the offering. Check out

events near you. The Pokororo Arts
& Craft Fair takes place this Sunday,
January 11 at Pokororo Hall, West
Bank Motueka river. The Fair has been
running for more than 30 years and
is popular with tourists and locals,
featuring around 70 stalls showcasing
locally made arts and crafts.
The Nelson Mail Teddy Bear’s Picnic
is a must if you’ve got kids to entertain.
Held at Isel House and Park Isel Park in
Stoke, this event is family fun in the sun
at its finest.
The Summer Kite Festival returns to
Nelson for its 24th year on Saturday 17
and Sunday 18 of January. This iconic
event will be held in Neale Park and
attracts kitefliers from all over New
Zealand, and a few from overseas too.
The main day for family entertainment,
food stalls and all the extras is Sunday
12noon to 5pm, entry via gold coin
The annual Queens Gardens Art
Exhibition will be held on Saturday 17
January too. Run by Art Group Nelson
for more than 30 years, this event fea-
tures paintings, woodwork and garden
art, all on display and for sale. Rain day is
Sunday 18 January.
